Built one greenhouse at a time.
Dragon Run Ornamentals started as 80 acres of undeveloped land in Gloucester County, Virginia, and grew into a working wholesale nursery through steady, deliberate construction rather than a single build-out.
Our Story
Founder David Nizinski purchased 80 acres in Gloucester County, Virginia, with the intent of building a working nursery from the ground up.
Construction began in earnest: a 20×100 equipment shed, a dedicated propagation house, five greenhouses, and the supporting infrastructure to run them.
The nursery has grown to two propagation houses, 25 cold frames, and a 20,000 square foot open growing pad — enough capacity to run contract orders alongside our own plant lines.
What Drives the Work
Our mission is straightforward: provide contract growing options for finished and liner material, plus custom propagation, for buyers who need plant material grown to spec rather than pulled off a general list.
Alongside contract work, we produce our own line of garden-worthy plants — woody plants, ferns, perennials, and grasses — with a consistent emphasis on native plant material. That focus comes directly from the top: David's interest in plants runs wide, and there are very few he doesn't find a use for somewhere on the property.
